Montgomery bringing back boys soccer

May 6, 2020

It was announced last Thursday that Montgomery was going to have a boys soccer program for the first time since 2015 and Mike Sherman was named the coach.

Sherman is the regional commissioner for Montgomery AYSO and has coached various levels, from U8 up through U15. When Montgomery last had a varsity team in 2015 - the Red Raiders went 2-16 and 2-12 in the HAC-III - Sherman was just starting out in the AYSO division at Montgomery. Sherman played under Dave Hahn at Warrior Run until he graduated in 1995. Sherman went on to play for Penn State Hazleton from 1995-96 and was an all-conference forward in 1996.

Sherman had talked with Montgomery athletic director Mike Snyder and started a junior high co-ed team last year. The co-ed junior high team had approximately 20 kids on the roster and Sherman noted that there already are roughly 20 kids interested in playing this fall.
