Montgomery Locals 2.12.2020

February 12, 2020
By Jade Heasley (jade@jadeheasley.com) , The Luminary

February 14 is Valentine's Day, so be sure to head out to the store to buy your cards and gifts if you haven't already. Just make sure that you remember to eat a box of Sweethearts (aka Conversation Hearts) on Valentine's Day. It's one of our classic American traditions that deserves to be honored especially after they disappeared for a year.

Speaking of hearts, have you ever wondered why the traditional heart-shaped design doesn't look like the actual human heart? I recently read that the heart-shaped design that became popular during the Victorian era is supposed to represent two hearts coming together as one.

According to Wikipedia, Valentine's Day is celebrated in many places around the world, but it's not an official holiday in any country. It's recognized as a feast day in some major church denominations in honor of St. Valentine who was put to death by the Roman Empire.

THOT "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind . . ." from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare.

Happy birthday wishes go to Brady Irvin, who will be celebrating his big day on February 13.

Fae Herb is accepting orders for Hometown Hero Banners. Orders paid in full by April 3 will receive a 15 percent discount. Orders will be accepted until September 4, and full price is $210.
