Montgomery Locals 1/8/2019

January 11, 2020
By Jade Heasley , The Luminary

I think it's safe to assume that most adults make New Year's resolutions. If one of your New Year's resolutions is to be more involved the community or to make a difference in the lives of others, you have a tremendous opportunity to do so by volunteering with many of the organizations here in town. No matter what your hobbies or interests are you're bound to find something that suits you. Below to get a list of organizations who are actively recruiting volunteers.

If you feel that you can't make the time commitment to be consistently involved, support organizations that you like by attending their events. Keep in mind that you can also join in plenty of activities for free. All programs at the library and the Historical Society are free of charge and the public is welcome. Some organizations also have family activities, so if you're looking to keep your kids entertained and off their tablets, keep an eye on this column for event announcements. Also keep in mind that there are many churches around town who are always welcoming new members.

So if you want to get out of the house, get to know your fellow townsfolk better, be helpful, make a difference, and learn something new, 2020 will be filled with plenty of opportunities! This year will be as good as you make it, so make it a good one for yourself, your family, and our town!
