Poultry Barn Approved in Moreland Township

January 8, 2020

The Lycoming County Planning Commission recommended for approval a land development plan

from a Muncy area resident to erect a poultry barn during its regular December meeting.

The building would be the second barn located on the Moreland Township property of Toby Wagner. The plan was previously reviewed by township supervisors.

Planners James Dunn, Larry Allison, Brett Taylor, Howard Fry, Michael Sherman, Carl Nolan James Crawford, Christopher Keiser and Joe Reighard voted in favor of the plan. Michael Berger, partnership specialist, U.S. Census Bureau, addressed the meeting about the need for residents to participate in the upcoming population count.

He said one in four people in Lycoming County fail to participate in the Census, which is conducted every 10 years. As a result, the county can be under-counted and receive less than its share of allocations for government- funded programs, according to Berger.
