Mrs. C. Lee Artley assumed the position of temporary instructor at the Muncy school kindergarten, replacing Mrs. Malcolm Rhone.

The Keystone Hook and Ladder company responded to two calls over the weekend but little damage was registered in either case. Friday night, a roof fire at the Keystone Paint and Filler company was quickly extinguished with damage to only a small portion of the roof.

The names of the late Sgt. Dewitt VanTuyl and Cpl. Walter Scott, World War II veterans and former Muncy Post Office employees, will be memorialized by a tablet in a memorial room of the new Muncy Valley Hospital which was being subscribed by post office employees.

Franklin Woodside, one of the community's ardent young hunters, finally got his wild turkey, but he waited until it was almost too late. At 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, 15 minutes before the season closed for 1949, Woodside still didn't have his turkey, but five minutes later he shot one, and found upon weighing it he had bagged an enormous 13-pounder. Nice going Mr. Hunter.

Births: Twin sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wilson, of Pennsdale, at their home, Nov. 8.

Died: Otto Beilman, husband of the former Ruth Hitesman, a native of Muncy; Robert F. Smith, longtime county resident who died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Duncan, of ear Danville, HIs age was 79. Mrs. Willian Bradley, Muncy Valley, died Thursday; W. Frank Bitler, Clarkstown, died suddenly on the evening of November 10. He would have been 56 years old; Walter C. Weaver, 62, Lycoming County resident, died Saturday at the home of Harry Fogleman of near Muncy.

Nov. 13, 1969

Nearer and nearer to readiness for occupancy is the apartment house on West Water street in Muncy, which will provide housing for eight families.

Mrs. Rose Wackenhuth, of Muncy Valley Hospital will be 100 years old on Nov. 15.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bennett, of Downington, are the parents of a son, Todd Randall, born on Oct. 30. The mother is the former Lila Lee Hilner, and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hilner, of near Hughesville. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Randall Bennett, of Muncy.

Mrs. Robert Ferrell elected to East Lycoming School Board.

Business is in full swing again at Wenzler's Fruit Farm which was struck by a tragic fire last January, selling a large variety of apples at their brand new facility.

Judy Tamagno, Muncy, has had two pieces of art accepted in the Best of the Bald Eagle Art League.
