PENNSDALE - A female employee of Economy Locker Storage Co. was killed last Monday morning in an industrial accident at the plant's facility at 324 Worthington Lane, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.

"This was a horrible accident," he said.

Jill Greninger, 35, of Williamsport either fell in or was pulled into a very large commercial meat grinder she was operating about 11:40 a.m., Kiessling said.

The woman had been standing on a set of stairs that was on wheels, Kiessling said. Since no one witnessed the accident "we don't know if she fell in, or was pulled in as she was perhaps reaching for something in the grinder, which was about 6 feet off the ground," Kiessling said.

Another employee heard a noise and called for help after finding the woman inside the grinder.

Muncy Township and Muncy Area volunteer firefighters responded to the scene. The employee was already dead when they arrived, officials said.

Firefighters worked for more than two hours disassembling the machine in order to recover the woman's body.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were on the scene following the accident and were leading the investigation into the woman's death.
