Montgomery Locals Apr.10, 2019

April 10, 2019
By JADE HEASLEY , The Luminary

The Montgomery Lions Club will be starting a new tradition this month with the 5K Walk/Run for Vision. The Lions Club has supported charities to help the blind and visually impaired for many years and this will be another opportunity for them to aid a worthy cause.

The race will be held on Saturday, April 20. It begins at the park and follows a course including Wagner Avenue, the strawberry fields, Broad Street, Bower Street, and ends at Riverside Campground. If you have wanted to participate in a 5K but haven't done so it may be a good one to start with. The course will be mostly flat and a lot of it will be on pavement. And if you're not able to run the whole course, you will be able to walk if you want to.

For those of you who have done 5Ks before, you may be interested to know that this race is registered with PA Runners. There will be prizes awarded for the top male and female runner overall and the top two male and female runners in each age category.

Applications are available at Cole's Coffee, Craft, and Consignment and the Borough Office.
