Mr. Conrad Frederick, one of the oldest of our citizens, departed this life, after a lingering illness.

Died in this Borough on the 8th inst., Daniel O., son of Jacob D. and Elizabeth M. Melick, aged 15 years.

We are requested to give notice that the new Lutheran Church at Clarksville, in Muncy Creek township, will be dedicated on Sunday next, Feb. 14.

A movement is on foot for starting a private banking house in this Borough,. We learn that a considerable part of the stock has already been taken. It is believed that there is plenty of business here for an institution of this kind.

The Bell telephone patent expired January 30. You can now buy a telephone for $2 or $3.

Mr. and Mrs. Waldron are receiving hearty congratulations over their girl baby, of which they are justly proud.

Mary M. Narber died at the home of her son in law, Joseph Fahnestock in the Brough, on Saturday last, aged 69 years and four days.

Rebe, a 10 year old son of William P. Merrill, met with a serious accident on Saturday afternoon, when he was out coasting and attempted to ride down a log slide which was very icy.

Mrs. Mary L. Smith of Muncy died at her home in Selinsgrove Friday.

The outcome of the Brady family reunion at Muncy in Aug. 1923 is the plan for the erection of a monument to Hugh and Hannah Brady.

Miss Jane Stoltz of town and Captain Stolz of Washing, D.C., and Miss Eleanor Reeder, of East Penn street joined the Cadet Nurses' Corps and are in training in Philadelphia.

Miss Eleanor Gorham has accepted a position in Boston, Mass, with the Council of Social Agencies. Miss Gorham was graduated from Muncy-Muncy Creek High School.

Word has been received here of the death of Lou Runyan who died Jan. 31 at the home of his brother, W.E. Runyan in Bradford.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dugan, Muncy R.D. have received the Purple Heart which has been awarded posthumously to their son, Pfc. Milford Dugan, paratrooper, who was killed in action in Italy, on November 10th.

The New York Times on Sunday carried the marriage of Mrs. Frances Hollingsworth Petrikin Mower of Pelham Manor, N.Y., widow of Charles D. Mower, who was married last Saturday to Edwin R. Cluff of New York City.

Early last Sunday morning about 4:15 our town policeman, U.S. Houseknecht, caught two people draining gasoline from his gas tank. The pair who were from Sullivan County admitted having performed the same truck at the upper end of Market street. After being arrested the two were lodged for the time being in the firehouse.

Mrs. George Montgomery has received word that her husband, Pvt. George Montgomery has arrived safely in North Africa.

A daughter who has been named Grace Suzanne, was born to Pvt. and Mrs. Robert Kerfoot at the Geisinger Memorial Hospital at Danville.

Engagement announced of Ruth Derick, Muncy R.D. 2, to Earl W. Snyder, of Hepburnville.
