WWII hero missing

Editor's note: Oscar W. Boyer, another native soldier was reported in the Muncy Luminary as missing during WWII.

Pvt. Oscar W. Boyer, 20, only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Boyer of Muncy R.D. 1 is reported missing in action.

A telegram to his parents received from the War Department reads as follows:

"The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that our son Pvt. Oscar W. Boyer has been reported missing in action since December 30th in Italy. If further details or other information are received, you will be propmptly notified."

Oscar attended the North Bend Schook on Muncy R.D. 1 and before his induction into the Army in August 1943, was a farmer. After three months training in a Southern Camp, he was sent overseas in November 1943. He was serving in the Infantry with the Fifth Army in Italy.

Oscar, was well liked by friends and relatives in this vicinity who sympahthize deeply with all who knew him.
