Hughesville Locals Oct. 10, 2018

October 10, 2018
The Luminary

Are you tired of talking about the weather? I know I am tired of feeling like we are having weather that is out of the ordinary. Is it unreasonable to hope that Mid-October will not be hot and humid? Or that I won't have to use bug spray just to go to my clothesline, or sit on my porch? Some of my friends like summer's high heat and humidity, so they are feeling like they got a bonus this year. I have been looking forward to cool, crisp October temps, so I still am hopeful that we might get a week or two of that.

There has been a lot of activity around the two Main Street churches, Trinity Lutheran and The Beacon (Methodist). Trinity is getting a new roof which will preserve and protect the historic building. The Beacon has undergone extensive remodeling, and the electrical service has been upgraded to include air conditioning for the structure. Last week there was a lot of specialized equipment in use, and both projects are nearing completion. Both congregations welcome visitors and those who are looking for a church home.
