Muncy Locals June 20, 2018

Telemedicine is here. Pennsylvania providers are using it to save time and money and lives. As I met with the new leaders at UPMC Muncy Valley Hospital campus, I am confident they will use it to access the best quality care for those of us who live in the rural areas of the county. It is something that helps to connect with the larger hospitals not only on consults, but to navigate licenses, insurances and documentation.

Once again the hospital's auxiliary provided a Lawn Party that was enjoyable, especially the dancers and musicians. The weather was perfect and and it took a couple of hours to see and do everything. Every year the event keeps growing with lots of community involvement.

Tuesday the Repasz Band played at Muncy Valley hospital. If you missed their performance at Penn College for Flag Day, no need to worry, for they will be playing at several locations this summer. This Saturday they will be in West Milton at Central Oak Heights and the following weekend at the Williamsport Home. This year they have scheduled rain dates which will be on the following days. Some of you may recall the shortness of last year's concert due to thunder.

For the 4th of July they will be in Eagles Mere. We visited Eagles Mere on Saturday for their 1st annual garden fest where I purchased local wine, 2 large planters, home made soaps and Jan Fisher's homemade pineapple chutney. It was delicious. She was giving away samples and I couldn't resist the purchase. Fisher Farms is in Allenwood but you can get their food products at their daughter's store (Dorothy Fisher) in Eagles Mere. Coming up in July on the 7th is Eagles Mere's 44th annual summer antiques market on the famous Village Green. Any weekend is a great getaway. There's also an auto museum and an air museum to visit with lots of local history to explore - and now they have added a canoe museum dating back to the late 1800s. Watch for their exhibit this fall.

Orlando's in downtown Muncy is now offering trivia night every other Thursday on the deli and meeting side of the restaurant. Join in some family fun and food to see who can answer the most questions. Check the flyers on the windows for more details.
