Students perform hilarious skits based on Grimm's Fairy Tales

HUGHESVILLE - "The Brothers' Grimm Spectaculathon" was the featured production at Hughesville High School on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 9.

This was a wildly fast-paced farce of a recreation of the Brothers' Grimm's 209 fairy tales combined into one giant fable with a comedy of errors.

It is written by Don Zolidis from two narrators' point of view and cast members Devon Palmeter and Eric Karschner together pulled in the audience with their mis-matched antics from the characters of Snow White, a Frog Prince, Hansel and Gretel, a woodcutter, a talking fish, and Rapunzel to name a few.

Cast members of 'The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon' held Dec. 8th and 9th and directed by theater major Desirae Mausteller.

Cast members devoted a large amount of time under the direction of Desiree Mausteller and her family. Brothers Luke and Jason Kepner have assisted with the stage production and lighting for the past five years. They enjoy doing it, spending hours after school to set up and musical productions are their favorite.

Tracy Mausteller helped with costumes, a challenge as there were several changes throughout the performance.

Other high school students helped with audio and special visual effects. Ethan Kuntz ran the spotlights, and Nate Lewis was production manager.

Other cast members were Ellie Doty, Samuel Benamati, Olivia Karschner, Jacob Reynolds, Trey Pachucki, Max Derby, Madison Miller, Shelly Robbins, Aleyah Walter, Gabriel Newvine, Alexis Strong, Abagail Marquardt, Rochell Temple, Jolisa Montgomery, and Randi Koser.

Meanwhile Andree Phillips from the Community Theatre League was in the audience taking notes for the Ray of Lights awards.

The Hughesville High School's next performance will be their winter musical of Beauty and the Beast.
