The Luminary

The 50th wedding anniversary of Ronald "Bud" Montgomery and Eileen Hall Montgomery of Muncy Township was celebrated in grand fashion June 27 through July 2, 2014. The couple enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Peter Herdic House Restaurant in Williamsport on June 27, the date of their anniversary. Their children, Jodi Davis, Scott Montgomery, and Jill Berrong organized the "Anniversapalooza" which kicked off with a festive party on June 28 for over 120 family and friends.

The party included catered smoked meats and cheeses from the Country Store along with a champagne toast and cake cutting. The cake was baked and decorated by Kelly Montgomery. Official photography for the party was provided by cousin Amy Hall. A special after party of close blood relations included spirited beverages especially enjoyed by Aunt Mary Byerly and karaoke singing of modern popular and country music. Despite niece Darlene Mitchley's rousing rendition of "Twist & Shout", Mark Berrong was crowned "The King of Karaoke" for the evening.

The following day a church service with family members participating and a reception afterwards was organized by Dotty Gordner at the Gordner Lutheran Church where Ron is the pastor.

The 'Anniversapalooza' continued with Ron and Eileen's extended Montgomery family including their children and grandchildren Kaitlin, Riker, Sarah, and Natalie. Their granddaughter Rachel was unable to attend due to schooling commitments. After a side trip to the Jell-O museum in LeRoy, NY, the family vacationed in lovely and picturesque Niagara Falls, Canada.

The family enjoyed the Niagara Falls Park adventure including the Hornblower boat ride; Journey Behind the Falls; Oh Canada, Eh? dinner theatre show (particularly enjoyed by young Natalie); happy hour at the hotel watching World Cup soccer; and good old fashioned family bonding and exploration of the Canadian culture. The entire family wore matching Anniversapalooza purple t-shirts with gold lettering which elicited friendly questions and comments from many a curious tourist at the falls. Ron and Eileen declared this their best anniversary ever!!!
