Great tasting corn

August 19, 2014 - Barb Barrett
This month is Pennsylvania produce month. Corn is plenty around here. Just drive around the area and you will find several corn stands, many on an honest system, and averaging about four to five dollars a dozen. I like the fact that it is picked fresh daily. And I was amazed to discover how many varieties the crop produces. I have always taken for granted that we have good corn since I spent most of my life here in Lycoming County. It wasn’t until I spoke with some of the area's farmers that I realized Pennsylvania has the best tasting corn. People even come from other countries to enjoy our corn, as I was told from a Montgomery farmer about a couple from Holland. The corn crop is one of Pennsylvania’s best assets. Locals freeze it for winter, and I must admit, it is much better tasting than pre-packaged, if not healthier.

Here is a list of the local farmers, all within minutes away from each other to buy some of the best tasting corn you will ever experience. Farmers say the crop will last well into the fall season.
